I am convinced that the only reason the founders didn't include the right to direct the education and upbringing of our children in the constitution and Bill of Rights is because they couldn't envision a populace stupid enough to think otherwise. Or perhaps they knew that should the populace ever become that stupid, the nation would be lost, so there would be no point.
