This author's opinion is that the SCOTUS got it right in Roe v Wade in saying that the federal government has a Constitutional and vested interest in protecting the lives of all US citizens regardless of age.
But they got it wrong when they went down the "when does life begin?" rabbit hole instead of choosing to err on the side of caution by assuming life begins at conception and making abortion illegal except in cases where the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother - at which point the decision belongs with the mother, because hers is the life that is being put at risk for the baby's life.
