April Showers bring May Flowers

It's Spring and the trees are greening up, but not with leaves just yet. No, trees, like everything else in the plant kingdom, have flowers. A fact that all too often is taken for granted or goes unnoticed.

I could write today about the multiple scandals involving our government. I have written about Benghazi before. I have been calling my Representative in congress daily since late September demanding impeachment over Benghazi.

I could write about the IRS targeting conservative and Christian groups for "closer scrutiny". A thing rightly feared by any American who understands that it is now impossible to be in compliance with all of the tax code never mind the volumes of new laws and regulations that Congress and our state legislatures impose upon us almost daily now.

I could write about the government's spying on the associated press. The press exists to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. They exist to expose criminal behavior in high places, a job most in the AP have deliberately neglected when it comes to Mr. Obama and his minions, but which may now be something they find palatable once again as the sights of this administration are set on them - well some of them anyway.

I could write about how the Congress, the SCOTUS and the Obama administration are systematically destroying our nation. They appear to be doing this with the willing compliance of the majority of American voters. This is disturbing on a number of levels. It indicates that Americans are largely ignorant of not only world history, but of American history as well. The USA is a Constitutional Republic and yet, from teachers to journalists to politicians themselves, all of whom should know better, our children are repeatedly told that we have a democracy. But they are not told that democracies are ill conceived and inherently unstable.

The immediate results of April showers can be quite intimidating and fearsome.

I could write about all these things and I would be right to do so. The watchman has a duty to warn the city when danger approaches. I am hardly a watchman, but that does not relieve me of a duty to warn my fellows of an approaching danger. Today, however, I think the danger lies in burying ourselves in the perfidy of our government to the exclusion of all else.

God is in control.
The USA sought His blessings during her founding and received them. How sad He must be to see us killing the children with whom He has blessed us before they have an opportunity to be born. How sad He must be to have been rejected by our schools and now by a major political party.

And yet, in the Spring, the rains still come and the land still blooms. The bees, who awaken before showier flowers have bloomed, are fed by the rather more exotic, if less noticeable, tree flowers. This should remind those of us who have been paying attention that God is not mocked, nor does He forget His faithful. There will be hard times coming. Remain faithful. The trees are flowering.

" So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.
And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, which trespassed against the Lord God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as ye see.
Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the Lord, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the Lord your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.
For if ye turn again unto the Lord, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him. "~ 2 Chron 30:6-9
