On hearing that some left wing students with whom he was having a dialogue believe that people are basically good:
"You know why you believe that? You believe that because you live in the United States of America where people are basically good. The ability to be naive in the United States is almost unique. We have created such a decent society that people's ideas are warped. People don't understand how bad the world is if they live in America."
