Show Me the Birth Certificate

Yes, Mr. Obama, save us all some time, tax money, (Judges and lawyers are not cheap), and troubling rumors, show me, show America, your original, undoctored birth certificate.

But perhaps even more telling, show me your passport, you know, the one you used to visit Indonesia and Pakistan as a younger adult. Because, really, that's the more telling argument isn't it? I know that our system is skewed towards making an allowance for the mistakes of parents in the case of a child's citizenship status. If your passport shows you to be a citizen of Indonesia at that point in your life, then that would mean that you had renounced your American citizenship. By the laws of our nation, that's not something you can take back. I have no interest in any current passport which you may have obtained using the same document you posted on your web-site, but I have a great deal of interest in seeing the passport you used to travel in countries that were not allowing U.S. citizens to visit at that time.

So yes, by all means, produce your real birth certificate, but I'd like to see proof that you never renounced your American citizenship as an adult too.

"Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.
But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him." ~Numbers 15:29-31

Seems clear cut to me, Barack Obama cannot become President of the United States under Article II of the Constitution. Please listen to the linked youtube, and if you can, point out exactly where its conclusion is erroneous. Since the United States Supreme Court will be under the same Constitutional constraints with regard to the cases now before it, I don't see HOW the Supreme Court can find otherwise. But, again, if anyone's got a legal theory Obama can use to get out of checkmate, have at it:

There are several exceptions in US Law regarding the status of children who are born to citizens outside of the U.S. or who are counted as citizens of another country because one of their parents was a foreign national. Those exceptions are proper and reasonable and require that the child in question make a declaration of citizenship at some point before their 21 or 23rd birthday depending on the nature of the obstruction.

That is why I am asking to see the passport he traveled to Pakistan and Indonesia as well as his birth certificate. Because, if, as an adult, he renewed an Indonesian passport to allow him entry into that country, that would be considered a renunciation of his American citizenship. That is not something that can be taken back, nor is it something that could be argued endlessly through the court system, nor does it put his status as a citizen at the whim of his mother's actions. That would be an action he took, as a fully functioning adult, declaring himself to be not a citizen of the United States.

I think that most citizens would and do regard the birth certificate issue as being a legal technicality. (I believe our Constitution needs to be upheld.)I believe the majority of Americans would be relatively willing to overturn the Constitution in this matter, if the argument is presented solely on the basis of Mr. Obama's place of birth.

It saddens me to say so, but I believe that this the way the tide is turning and Mr. Obama's people have prepared to take advantage of that. Indeed it almost makes sense that he concentrate the will of the people on that rather than his passport issues as an adult. Then, if he produced a legitimate US birth certificate, the people would be less likely to listen to another argument about his passport.

I wonder who you are Ted, as you seem to have posts everywhere this issue has been addressed on the blog-o-sphere. (Or at least those that I have taken the time to look at.) Yet, your profile provides nothing. Why don't you have a blog of your own if this issue is so near and dear to your heart?

Dear Mom,

As I recall, you live somewhere in Wisconsin, and that is close enough to Chicago that you should know that integrity is not anything to be expected from a Chicago politician which Obama most definitely is. Why would you think he might produce any of these documents just to set our minds at ease?

We all know that he won this recent election fair and square, with lies, deceit, and every sort of dishonesty and illegality. He is not about to do something stupid like admit that he was never eligible to be a candidate after all that effort! He is going to persevere with one of the greatest frauds ever committed.

And he is making good use of that Harvard Law education. When up against a hard question like this, what does he do? Stonewall! I'm sure that is what he learned at Harvard.

He is relying on the fact (and it is a fact) that most of the population simply no longer care what the Constitution says about this matter. They have not cared about what the Constitution says about countless other matters for years, so why should they suddenly get serious about the Constitution on this point?

I think he will get away with it, just because people don't care, as long as they are told they will be cared for. As a nation, we no longer want to be independent and free, only provided for. We are weak.

Yes, I am in Wisconsin and, yes, I have heard disturbing things about Chicago politicians. Sadly enough, I agree with you that he will stonewall and the American people will roll over and go back to sleep.

As to why bother to post such a request, when it will fall on deaf ears, my actions are not dependent upon the actions of others. I ask because, even if this whole deal is just a way to identify troublemakers for Mr. Obama to take care of with his citizen security forces, I think it's the right thing to do.

(I think, that if we are headed down that road, I would rather be remembered as someone who spoke up and offered opposition than someone who just said nothing and hoped for the best.)

Thanks for stopping by. I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas.

Dear Mom,

I understood your purposes from the first; you do an excellent job of making your points. I was trying to be politely sarcastic in my comments.

I am very concerned about Obama's Brown Shirts. This is one of the most threatening ideas that he has presented yet, in my view. And yet, I think it may be well received by many. Some will say that it is just the sort of national service we need to restore a sense of service in our young people, not realizing the indoctrination component involved.

Thank you for the Christmass wishes. They will have to keep for a while, however. We first have to observe Advent which just began this past Sunday and runs through Christmass Eve day. Then... we get to Christmass!

A blessed Advent to you, and a Merry Christmass all in due time.
