Common Core Conflict of Interest

From
Senator Luther Olsen has yet to schedule hearings on Common Core that were required by language in the biennial budget. Senator Olsen's wife, Joan Wade, has served for over ten years as administrator of CESA 6, which is tasked with implementing Common Core in Wisconsin. This represents a clear conflict of interest for Senator Olsen who should be removed from his positions on Education and Joint Legislative committees who will oversee Common Core matters.

Please CALL Senator Fitzgerald asking him to reassign Senator Olsen! Below is the number and a general message... Personalize it as you like.. Call Senator Scott Fitzgerald - (608) 266-5660

Whether or not our children's education will be dictated by consortia, trade groups like the NGA, and corporate interests via Common Core State Standards is in the hands of Sen. Luther Olsen. His wife is instrumental in rolling out Common Core in Wisconsin and he clearly has a conflict of interest which may be why he's delaying scheduling any hearings on Common Core as required in the biennial budget. Please have Senator Fitzgerald reassign Senator Olsen off of Joint Legislative Committee and Education Committee to resolve this conflict of interest. At very least, have Senator Fitzgerald encourage Senator Olsen to Schedule those hearings and take public input on Common Core!"

I can certainly see why he wouldn't schedule hearings - after all parents have no vested interest in seeing their children educated properly - it's not like that is the responsibility of parents after all...oh wait YES IT IS - yes it absolutely IS the duty and responsibility of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children. That is why the feds are specifically prohibited, by law, from creating curriculum.
SO what do they do? Set standards that are met by the curriculum they wish to impose on our children and then hold our own tax money over our heads as a way to cheat the law.
I recommend homeschooling.
