Don't even ask about photography. There is no point for small creators/photographers to register their images. It is horrendously expensive to prosecute image thieves and if your photos can't be shown to have made money for you, there will be no damages available to you even if you win.
Someone else can take your images of the web or from a book and register it withthe copyright office themselves. Because the copyright office does not even do a reverse image search. They just take the registered images and store them. It's outrageous. It is NOT what someone thinks they are getting when they go to the trouble of registering their images.
