Gun Control,The Death of the Nation

What is conspicuously missing from both sides in the debate over gun control is that the purpose of the 2nd amendment is NOT self defense or hunting.

The purpose of the 2nd amendment is to ensure that the people (who are the grantors of governmental authority) always retain the power to maintain the republic or - should it be too far gone - to alter or abolish it.

"That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." ~ Declaration of IndependenceThe tendency of the human heart is towards evil and the tendency of government is towards tyranny. These are the truths that the founders recognized when they were writing both the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. Those truths have not changed, nor will they so long as humanity and government exist.

Were there a way that government could stop such mass murders, then the debate might be a reasonable one. But, there is no way for the government to prevent an individual from turning towards violence of this sort. There will always be evil people. There will always be hurting people. Criminals do not obey the law and if those bent on such actions cannot obtain a firearm, they will use a knife or a vehicle or an explosive or something else. 

Those who would disarm the citizenry are calling for nothing less than the death and destruction of this nation. And, given that no amount of legislative gun control will stop those who are bent on committing these acts of violence, no number of shootings by those who embrace evil is enough to justify the destruction of the USA.

Sheboygan County DA interview highlights

Let me explain this to him. The 2nd amendment is not about fun or hunting or even personal protection. The 2nd amendment is to dissuade the state from becoming tyrannical.

The Constitution does not grant rights. It recognizes them. It restrains the legislature from restricting our God given, self evident, unalienable rights. It is also about the duty of the people to maintain the republic. Law enforcement is not supposed to be better armed than the citizenry. They are a part of the community. They are to work in partnership with the community. They should be able to call upon the citizens of the community for assistance should THEY need it It is to the benefit of all to train all citizens in the handling of firearms and in their duties as citizens. (Yes, BLM, I'm talking to you. You complain that the people in your communities are treated like thugs. Are YOU, as individuals, acting like thugs and criminals? When your neighbor commits a crime, do you report them? Do you stand as a witness? Do you do those things that are necessary to let your neighbors know that you are a law abiding citizen and you expect the same courtesy from them? Or do you just shake your heads and ignore it until the crime is against you or yours and then wonder why no one else will help you and why the police don't do "something" to make your neighborhood better? ) What scares me is that this man thinks the legislature may remove or restrict - beyond their natural limitations - any God given, self evident, unalienable right. And he is the DA. Now that's scary. It is scary because it indicates that he (along with most of those currently in government) wish to think of citizens as the children of the government, to be protected from the realities of life. When the reality of the American form of government is that We The People are to be self reliant, personally responsible adults who are also to be in charge of the government. That we are to limit the government to the absolute minimum of control over our lives that is compatible with a stable society and which provides for the greatest amount of personal liberty within that stable society boundary. And, truthfully, we have done a poor job in that regard. Today's citizenry turns to government to solve their problems with distressing ease. And that is how governments become tyrannical. It is one thing to request enforcement of the law by the government - that is one of the responsibilities of government after all. It is quite another to expect the government to see to your daily needs, to provide you with housing or food or education. (Although, I do approve of government provided education so long as the curricula and all other aspects of it are controlled on the local level. Parents, community and employers are the best judges of what a child needs to learn.) As Christ said : "If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all".When done in the correct spirit, this is a good thing. When done as a way to steal power and expertise and volition from those who are served, it is evil. And that is what government does when it limits our liberty (liberty- not license) while purporting to keep us safe. It makes of us children who cannot be trusted with responsibility for their own provision or defense. And by allowing it, we cede our liberty and lose our safety.

The world is not a safe place. We have enemies at the borders and in the halls of government. Now is not the time for the citizenry to remain complacent in the notion that the government will "take care of us". In point of fact it has NEVER been the job of government to take care of us. It is, was and always has been the job of the individual to take care of themselves and whomever they should claim as their own. It is time now to grow up, re-learn the skills of self sufficiency and .like adults, take measures to protect our own. And it is time for government to remember that they are an unruly child and not the parent.

It's Not About Self Defense

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The 2nd amendment is not about self defense. Its purpose is to "make regular" or to create a citizen militia. (The word "regular" did not mean the same thing then as it does now.)  That is the function of the 2nd amendment, to recognize that every adult male IS a member of the militia as the founders of this nation understood it.

The idea was the same idea as they have in Switzerland, only without the mandatory service/training in a formal military because this nation was not to have a formal military. The Navy wasn't created until Thomas Jefferson's tenure as president. (And the self declared enemy that made that necessary was islam - as it is today.) The idea was that The People would be responsible enough and courageous enough in themselves to protect this nation.

Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress?  The People were to be a permanent militia which would be more than sufficient to the needs of this nation. One that is capable of repelling any invader who would be foolish enough to attack a free people. One that is capable of removing the types of power weasels who would be drawn to positions of authority in this nation.

That is why any assault on the right to keep and bear arms is so egregious. That is why gun sales and ammo sales have skyrocketed since this administration was put in place. Not because those buying guns are violent or racist or rebels, but because The People can see the writing on the wall.

We see the continual and deliberate refusal of those in authority to enforce the law on themselves or their fellows in the criminal destruction of this nation. If the law will not be enforced equally at the highest levels, then we can be sure that it will not be long before it is selectively enforced at the local level - if such is not already the case.

Mr. obama is seated in violation of the eligibility requirements of our Constitution. Ms. rodham-clinton is seated as SoS, also in violation of the Constitution. Mr. holder is allowed to skip out of any consequences for his egregious actions in Fast and Furious. We have testimony that the DOJ's office is enforcing the law selectively and then Mr. obama himself, acting as president, DIRECTS the DOJ to refuse to enforce our immigration law and sues a border state for acting when the federal government abdicates its responsibility to do so.

Now we see our people hung out to dry and abandoned to die in Benghazi, while the witnesses who escaped haven't been seen or heard from since. A traitor is appointed to replace the unconstitutionally seated Ms. r-c.  The Patriot act and the NDAA are used against the American people, while those whose stated goal is to bring down our miserable house from within are given aid and comfort and F-16s and tanks.

Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. We are not blind. This is the place where the rubber meets the road in the American experiment. Can We the People reclaim our government and restore the Constitutional limitations as they were meant to be, or will we go down the same road to destruction as all nations whose people have succumbed to the lethal Utopian philosophies of communism/socialism/fascism?

It has come to the proving point for our unique form of government. Can We the People remove the traitors and power weasels who have taken positions of power and authority within the republic in accordance with the processes outlined in our founding documents - or will we be destroyed in the same manner as other nations who became dependent upon government largesse?

Truth and Denial

I was visiting my son at his apartment the other day. My husband was going to arrive a bit later and it had gotten dark. Suddenly, my son looked up and drew a deep breath, then gave a sigh of relief as my husband walked into the kitchen. We hadn't heard him in the hall or opening the door to the apartment. My son said "When I looked up and saw something moving in the other room, at first I told myself it was just a shadow and then it was you." That got me thinking, because as a young woman, someone attempted to break into my apartment one night when my roommates were gone. I had just gone to bed and turned my face towards the wall to go to sleep when I heard a noise. I told myself it was just the wind. Then I heard it again and it was not the wind.

What strikes me is that people naturally engage in denial when they are afraid of something or when something unexpected occurs. We really are creatures of habit that way. Does it serve us to do so? I suppose, in many situations, it does. But, such a habit must not be allowed to direct our actions when it is detrimental to us. That's what leads to victims who stay with their abusers until they are dead or wish they were, the inability to break free of that first impulse to deny an unpleasant reality.

It strikes me that that's what we are doing, as a nation, right now. Mr. obama is ineligible to sit as president. His father was not a citizen. Due to the reality that the children of our military or ambassadorial staffs may be born overseas and they should not be denied the potential to be president one day, the "born on native soil" requirement was waived in the 1800s. That leaves the "two citizen parent" requirement as the only meaningful distinction between a just plain citizen and a natural born citizen.

This is a reasonable requirement to hold for the office of the president. It is needed because the president also serves as the commander in chief of the military. We dare not have a commander in chief with divided loyalties. It matters not whether the non-citizen parent is beloved or hated, it will have an affect on the child that parent creates that is not desirable in the commander in chief of any nation's military.

We, as a nation, heard the rumblings, and saw for ourselves the objective evidence that this man, barack hussein obama, was not a natural born citizen. He told us so himself, publishing two books-one of which was telling us all about his Kenyan father. He had the hubris, as a senator, during the presidential campaign, to add his vote to the unanimous Senate approval of non binding SR 511, which, while it would allow that Mr. McCain was eligible, would serve to disqualify himself as well. (It is also, to my knowledge, the first time any part of Congress has weighed in on the definition of the term Natural born citizen for the purpose of presidential eligibility.) Non binding legislation has been used, historically, to let the judiciary know how Congress would vote, were they to vote on a specific subject.

 Those of us who paid attention were horrified to see one Secretary of State after another refuse to do their duty to verify the eligibility of this usurper. Then the Congress failed to object to the electoral college vote and the chief justice of the United States, Mr. roberts, the one man above all others who should have known very well, that this man was not eligible, swore him into the office of the president, and flubbed it and did it again in secret.  He has just done so a third time, very privately and quietly. He refused to find obamacare unconstitutional or to require that it go back through the legislative process once he declared it to be a tax, rather than the unconstitutional abomination that it really is. He saw Mr. obama sign into effect 23 executive orders infringing the right of the people to keep and bear arms on the federal level - a blatant violation of the oath of office that he, himself had administered - and swore him in again.

We must stop denying that the federal government is in the hands of a usurper and that neither the Congress, nor the SCOTUS intend to rectify that situation. We must recognize this now, because this is the last stop before tyranny. If we allow the feds to shred the second amendment, that does not mean that we no longer have that right, it means we will have to exercise it. We alone, among all the nations in the history of the earth have the most venues by which we may avoid the destruction that is barreling down on us without violence. But in order to do that, we MUST stop denying the objective truth of our situation. It is not just a shadow, we must act to remove all those who are in violation of their oaths now, or we must fight our own later to restore the Constitution that has for long guided us in our quest for continued freedom.

 To those who would argue that all those people know better than do we and it just doesn't make sense that they wouldn't object if it were true, I have two words - Bernie Madoff. There were one or two ordinary people who tried for years to bring the authorities to bear on this ponzi scheme. They did the research and reasoned according to the objective facts.  But because they weren't the elites and because the idea that such a huge and well respected businessman could be a fraud was ridiculous, nothing was done until the structure began to collapse. They did their duty, were subjected to ridicule and humiliation for it because it was the right thing to do. And so must we do the right thing and restore the Constitutional limits on that body of oathbreakers and usurpers currently occupying our federal government.

The Lord has given us the right to bear arms and all the others, enumerated and un-enumerated. The Lord guided the hearts and hands of those who wrote that venerable document. May the Lord guide and bless us in our efforts to restore to it's rightful government that great gift that He bestowed upon our founders, the gift of America. Because, as Benjamin Franklin - notably one of the least religious of the founders said “The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?”

That is why we had a Guns Across America rally last Saturday. That is why those who are paying attention are so determined to hold the line here. the second amendment, which reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." is not about hunting or self defense. It is about having a citizenry that is armed well enough to be called up, as a militia, in times of trouble to defend the nation. To defend the nation from invasion or traitorous usurpers like the one currently sitting in the office of the president and his minions. The oath references "all enemies, foreign or domestic"  because the founders knew that men would come who would be greedy for wealth and power. Men of subtlety, aided by other men who would wish the destruction of this nation in order to pillage it's great wealth.

The declaration of Independence says that "mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable" That is the denial I referenced earlier in this post. With this attack on the second amendment, we MUST declare that these evils are no longer sufferable. If there is any nation on earth capable of removing this usurper and his minions - all of them, including those in the Congress and the SCOTUS - without violence, it is the USA. But we must act now. Recall your representatives. Call your governors and demand the nullification of any and all unconstitutional federal actions towards the people. Call them daily until they do it. I suggest also recommending the Balance of Powers Act wording suggested by the USPU to your state level legislators.

The ambiance, while friendly and polite, was not the same as the cheerful boisterous gatherings put on by the TEA party, no. These were the people who have the vision to see what's coming if we do not preserve the 2nd amendment. they were grim and steadfast.

There was a bit of remorse over what we have allowed the enemies of this nation to do to our children because we have allowed them to infiltrate our schools and capture the minds and hearts of our children nearly without opposition. But that can be remedied.

This is not a conservative, liberal, GOP or democrat issue. This is a Rule of Law issue and every American citizen needs to understand that if the 2nd amendment can be usurped by the oathbreakers in DC, then we are living under nothing more than a soft tyranny, soon to be replaced with a hard tyranny. (Don't believe me? For those who were foolish enough to trust Ms. pelosi - wait until you see what's in obamacare. You won't be waiting long. Think you're safe because you can afford a "Cadillac plan"? I hope you can afford the 40% penalty on it too. But that's going to be the least of your worries.)

If we do not remove these oathbreakers, then we and our children and our grandchildren along with the rest of the world will revile us, and rightly so, as the generation that failed to preserve the last best hope of freedom in the world. I hope, that with God's will - and I hope that we, as a nation can regain God's good will towards us - we can avert the looming destruction of this nation.

As I approached, I couldn't help but notice that the great majority of the people were avoiding the lawn. (Good thing too because it was unseasonably warm-a blessing perhaps on the event. ) Once again, responsible people act responsibly.

I have no idea what this guy's sign said, he was moving too fast for me, but thought the Guy Fawkes mask was worth showing.

In the end, it's not about party or philosophy. It's about Liberty.

New Life for the 2nd Amendment

If you missed (or never listen to) the BTR show of the same name as this blog, then you should give the widget on the sidebar a click and have a listen. It's only 30 minutes. Wednesday's guest was Cody Wilson, founder of Defense Distributed, also known as the Wiki Weapon project.

When I first heard about this, I was wallowing in in a slough of despond over the murder of our ambassador and the treasonous "response" of this administration and the treasonous and complicit lack of impeachment proceedings from Congress. I, personally, now regard the contract between the federal government and We the People (AKA the US Constitution), to be broken. Irrevocably and egregiously broken. I declare that I, will respect the rule of law-including that venerable document-but that I will no longer regard anything coming from the so-called federal government to be binding upon me as they have broken the contract. (Yes, wallowing, I say.)

 This project, the very idea of it opened a window into the possibilities for maintaining our freedom in the future. Freedom from an egregiously out of bounds and out of control government in the form of technology moving so fast they will be simply unable to keep up, and that, my fellow Americans is a very good thing. A very scary thing also as there are always those among us who will turn such things to evil, but that's a different problem and one that cannot be solved by legislation.

A Thankful and Thoughtful Memorial Day

This post is made with my sincere thanks to those who have given their lives in the service of freedom.

Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press and all the others in which We the People have been privileged to engage over the last 200+ years. All these freedoms, which are dependent on the character of a responsible and informed public to maintain. Freedoms, maintained by a (mostly) volunteer military force. This voluntary service is, in many ways. the essence of a free republic.

The freedom to bear arms is nothing more than a reassurance to our military and our countrymen that, should it be necessary, the citizenry can and will take up arms to defend our nation when and where the military may not be enough. It is to our credit that the armed services of this nation have proved more than adequate to meet the military needs of the United States to this point in history.

May we, as a nation, on this Memorial Day, rededicate ourselves to the maintenance of the freedoms so many have died to preserve. May we bestir ourselves to study our founding documents and light anew the brush fires of freedom in the hearts of men and women across this nation. And may we recognize that if we do not preserve our freedom here, it will not be found elsewhere.

Let us recognize that freedom includes the freedom to fail and to fail spectacularly.

Let us remember that silence is cowardice where speech is stifled.

Let us remember that responsibility is the shared duty of the people of a free republic.

And let us remember that Freedom is never free and that this day is for the remembrance of those who paid for these freedoms of ours in blood.
